Blackbuck Antelope Hunting In Texas
Texas Blackbuck Hunts | when can you hunt blackbuck? | Exotic hunting in Texas
Blackbuck Antelope Hunting In Texas has become wildly popular as they are a very unique antelope species. Blackbuck males are roughly 50 to 70 pounds in size. A dominant blackbuck male will often boast a jet-black top half and a pure white underbelly. The males are morphic in color and can transition from a light tan to jet black or “Tuxedo.” Their sparring is wildly entertaining to watch and experience as they are very territorial animals, fighting with extreme intensity. A dominant blackbuck male will often tromp around in the daylight visiting a specific set of middens or piles of excrement. This helps the male mark his territory and lay claim to the females within the local area. The primary habit of a blackbuck is low-lying grasslands, which allow them to feed at a slow pace and makes the Texas hill country an ideal climate. Hunting these antelope can be difficult as they have extremely good vision and can very easily spot movement. The best approach when hunting blackbuck is from a ground blind. However, many of our hunters have successfully performed spot and stalk hunts in the past. If a treeline can be followed along with the open grasslands they prefer, this can present a hunter with the perfect opportunity to get a shot off.
When is the best time to hunt Blackbuck?
Blackbuck Antelope Hunting Season
The best time to hunt Blackbuck Antelope is in the Spring and early Summer. The months of June and July are peak rut action for the Blackbuck and therefore present peak opportunity to hunters. However, blackbuck can ultimately be hunted year-round at the Texas ranch. A blackbuck hunt can also be paired with an Axis Deer rut hunt as the two mating seasons coincide with each other.
