When is the best time to hunt exotics in Texas?
Trophy Whitetail Deer || October - January
Aoudad / Nilgai / Scimitar Oryx || February - May
Axis Deer / Blackbuck || June - July
Sika Deer / Fallow Deer || August - October
Non-shedding, hard horned animals such as Rams, Exotic Antelope such as Nilgai and Blackbuck, Wildebeest, and Bison, can all be hunted year-round. However optimal hunting for each of these species is always during their given rutting period.
Antler-shedding animals such as Red Stag, Pere David’s Deer, Fallow Deer, Axis Deer, and Whitetail Deer are best to hunt during their rutting period. If you’re looking for an animal in velvet then some of our exotic deer can be hunted in the early to mid-spring.
